Karen

Karen Mouton

Instructor

Karen Mouton started her career in dentistry in 1983 as a dental assistant. Within 2 years, she was floating between the front and back office. She excelled at managing the office’s recall system and perfecting it. Learning the ropes of verifying the patient’s insurance verification came next. It wasn’t long before helping patients understand their treatment options and uncovering all the ‘fine print’ details of their dental coverage became Karen’s passion. She started working for a 3rd party insurance verification service in the early 90”s long before this was a popular alternative for dental practices. Karen has spent more than 25 years uncovering all the particulars of employer group and individual dental policies. Her motto is one confirmation is never sufficient, regardless of where it comes from. Comparing various sources of information from faxbacks, carrier websites, dental handbooks, verbal confirmations and insurance contracts is the only way to avoid unexpected insurance surprises and ensure accurate benefits are being quoted to patients.

Karen regularly attends dental conventions, coordinates annual events so her clients can be exposed to national speakers in the industry, and is a member of the IAPlus Academy board of directors.
